Key Programming for BMW G-Series and F-Series BDC2 Vehicles
With the release of version 35.2 of the ABRITES Diagnostics for BMW/Rolls-Royce/Mini, we are excited to introduce a long-awaited feature: BDC2 key programming with the BN020 license.
What is BN020?
The BN020 license allows users to add a spare key to BMW vehicles equipped with the Body Domain Controller of second generation (BDC02). The procedure is bench-based and non-invasive — it requires no soldering or component removal.
Supported Vehicles
The license supports all BDC02-equipped vehicles, including:
- BMW M5 (F90), 5 Series (G30/G31/G38)
- 3 Series (G20), 4 Series (G80/G81/G82)
- 6 Series (G32), 7 Series (G11/G12)
- X3/X4, IX3 (F97/F98, G01/G02, G08)
- M8 (F91/F92/F93), 8 Series (G14/G15/G16)

Required Tools
To complete the procedure, the following hardware and software are required:
Procedure Overview
- Disassemble BDC2 module and connect ZN095 clip to EEPROM.
- Use AVDI software to read data from the module.
- Prepare a new key with the PROTAG programmer.
- Write the key data to the BDC2.
- Reassemble the module and install it in the car.
- Hold the new key to the ring antenna and turn on the ignition for 30 seconds.
